Love is when you use your hands to create. Love is when thought, time, and consideration are used to produce an opportunity. Love is not always just gentle and kind. Love for some is hard work, sweat, tears, and even death. Love is taking care of everything and everyone without the want for repayment. Love is soul food. Love is grace. Love is mercy. Real Love is Agape Love.
I have been always been careful about what I ate and how it was made, but surviving cancer and having a child with autism, and my mother who had thyroid disease. Even though my children and I didn’t eat jarred baby food. My mom and I cooked most of our foods. I looked at the food labels, but that became time-consuming when out grocery shopping. I am looking into buying meats by actually buying the animals and having it processed, so I know what I am putting in my body. I am looking to love my body so that I live long enough to pass the legacy on to the next generation. I also have a purpose that I must live to fulfill. I also am training my children to understand how to love their bodies, to pay attention to God’s will, and to be aware of the ideas that society is trying to influence them to do or be.
Society is shoving so many ideas and fades about body image and beauty at us and our children. We give love, but when are we teaching self-love? When are we not judging people or ourselves? When are we not comparing and in a fight about what we see in the mirror or public? We say Love, but real love is not judgmental, hurtful, or cruel. So why does society give us unrealistic views about our body images and these abnormal ideologies about life that keeps us in a tizzy about what we do see and about what we should want? Society flashes clothing, food, and other products at us nonstop. We, as a society, lost all aspects of love when we look in the mirror or at people walking down the street because we are too busy judging people and ourselves.

Corinthians chapter 13 talks about love Verse 1 says we can speak all the languages of the earth and of heaven but if we don’t love others we are just noisemakers. Verse 2 says if we have the gift of prophecy, to know all that God Knows, and all faith to move mountains, but do not love, we are nothing. Verse 3 if we were to give everything we had to the poor and work our bodies to the bone, brag about it, and not love others, then we have accomplished nothing. Verse 4 Love is patient, kind, not jealous, or prideful. Verse 5 Love is not rude, manipulative, bad-tempered nor does it keep a tally of offenses. Verse 6 Love does not rejoice at injustice it rejoices in the truth. Verse 7 Love never gives up, never loses faith, always has hope, and lasts through every circumstance. Verse 8 prophecy will come to pass, talking will stop, and knowledge will also pass away but LOVE will always exist and never fails.
What does True-Love mean to you? What is your definition of Self Love? Is your Love real for others and for yourself?
