I could not compartmentalize my feelings this year. Last year, I had to push my emotions aside with chemo and life-threatening diseases. I… hell…..we all really did not enjoy that day. We stayed local and I ordered food that I could not eat forgetting that chemo and spicy food were not a good mix. My throat was sore for days. I got cool gifts but we were really solemn.
This year the children were very much amped to go out and do mother’s day, I was not. I smiled and laughed when I could but, you know your son kept asking me, “you alright, babe?” I lied said yes. I didn’t want them to feel bad about their efforts. I did enjoy the brunch and all their personalities. I had a good day but, my mind could not focus on anyone else. I just keep thinking about you, Mommy.
The damn timelines on social media flooded with mother’s love, poems, pictures, and flowers. I was disappointed by that because I wanted to be distracted. All I could think of was how awesome, wise, and kind you were; and none could compare to you.

Mother’s Day is not a happy one for all of us. There are really time wherein all we need is the love that our mothers can give. I’m sorry you have to endure all this pain. I hope it gets better soon.
