When you think things are at its worst you have to sit back and see what lies over the next hill. It is interesting how we handle news and results. We say nothing, we cry, we become depressed, we pray, we let our mind wander, we become angry, we plan, etc.
I have a friend, a fellow survivor, who had a cancer scare and she called me and we came up with a game plan about what we gonna do and how we gonna do it… strategy, right? We had our game face on until we got the results. I said we because what will affect her will affect me and my family as well, that is sisterhood.
Her results were negative.. we all rejoiced. We were all relieved. We were able to breathe.
Now my turn and I have a series of tests and we get semi-good results…. now more tests. We do the same thing…. game planning… we continue to eat better, exercise more, and not skip on vitamins or green shakes, etc. We are scared and angry, but we are fighters… and we will continue to fight… Life is way too important to just give up and surrender.
I had another biopsy done a week ago. I decided that I was not going to worry about my family until the results were in. I was not going to upset the stability of my children’s lives. I was not going to worry about my “friends” until I know more. There were the chosen few who I did tell including my fellow survivor.
The LIFE of a Survivor is always on edge… I spoke about this before. If we gain weight it could be cancer if we lose weight too fast it could be cancer if we don’t feel well it could be cancer… it can’t a cold, or overeating or our metabolism is just in high gear…
CANCER lingers over our heads and echoed through our ears… we are never allowed to forget that we had cancer. We have scars to remind us….. We have our long-lasting recovery to remind us… and we have the non-stop testing that seems to never go away because it is not just about cancer, but the type of cancer, the early age that it appeared, and blah, blah, blah.
So my recovery this time is from just a biopsy and the relief of the outcome that it is not lymphoma but just a reactive lymph node from the previous lymph node removal or not. We survivors are never at rest.
